Web 2.0 Expo 2008

I gave this three-hour workshop for the first day of the Web 2.0 Expo.

Lately I’ve been using a version of my half day workshop slides for my one hour talks, going through the material at a lightning pace and stopping at the crucial points. This gives attendees the benefit of more information packed into an hour.

I got a little nervous right before going on stage as I realized that I actually hadn’t given this exact version in workshop form yet. But the talk seemed to go really well. A few people told me afterward that my workshop was “worth attending the price of admission itself” which I consider to be a huge compliment, especially with the caliber of speakers at the event.

I did have a couple of mistakes in this presentation. I accidently converted a number into a percentage, thinking that .15 was 15%, a very embarrassing mistake, but was caught during Q&A. And I flubbed when I mentioned the C-block spectrum auction, saying that Google bought it in order to be open, when it was really Google just pushed up the asking price to force Verizon to make it open to all devices and all applications.
